PROXY PROCESS FAQS

PEMCO Mutual Insurance Company is a mutual insurer, so policyholders collectively own the company and are entitled to attend and vote at its annual meetings.
The date of the annual meeting is included in your insurance policy documents. Annual meetings take place at PEMCO's headquarters in Seattle on January 3rd of each year, or on the following Monday if January 3rd falls on a Saturday or Sunday.
Typically, the annual meeting of policyholders consists of the election of board members and a preliminary report on the prior year’s financial results. The meeting agenda will be available on PEMCO’s website approximately 30 days before the annual meeting.
The proxy appointment used to be included on our applications for insurance. Since the proxy is valid for five years, we’ve decided it's more effective to send the proxy request in a separate letter to ensure proxies are current.
A proxy confers upon another person the temporary ability to vote on your behalf at policyholder meetings. Most policyholders choose not to attend annual meetings in person, so the proxy is a way to ensure that those policyholders are represented at the meeting.
As a mutual insurer domiciled in Washington, proxies are considered valid for five years, unless sooner revoked by the policyholder.
No. A proxy has no other relation to your insurance coverage. You can revoke your proxy at any time by writing to us.
Your response to the proxy request has no bearing on your current or future eligibility for insurance with PEMCO Mutual Insurance Company or on your policy rates. Returning the proxy form simply helps to ensure that PEMCO can make routine annual business decisions.
