Who's driving for Uber? Dad

March 24, 2019 by PEMCO Insurance
The next Uber driver you meet likely could swap stories with you about teething trauma or teen drama.
That's because 46% of Uber drivers are parents, with men outnumbering women by about 7 to 1. No longer just a gig for college students, the single biggest group of Uber drivers falls into the 30-39 age range (30%), followed by drivers age 40-49 (26%). Nearly half have a four-year college or advanced degree.

Those stats (courtesy of Business of Apps) aren't surprising, since rideshare driving gives parents the flexibility they need to pick up extra cash while working around their kids' schedules.

But before you give rideshare driving a try, please call us. Insurance coverage offered by rideshare companies may not protect you fully, especially between the time you turn on the app and pick up a rider. Also, their limits and deductibles are likely different than the ones you chose for yourself. For less than you'd probably think, you can extend your PEMCO policy to cover most rideshare insurance gaps and get the same protection for you and your auto as you have when you're driving it for personal use.

Check out this video, then talk to your local PEMCO agent, go online or call 1-800-GO-PEMCO to learn more.
