For the last eight years, Block Party has been the favorite summer event for South Lake Union residents. The festivities happen right in PEMCO’s backyard and we love the chance to meet all of our neighbors!

The activities were endless at this year’s party with a free yoga class on the lawn from Be Luminous, food sampling from popular SLU restaurants, a burger grilling competition, and a movie on the lawn to finish the evening.

The PEMCO Brand Ambassadors were stationed right next to all the food vendors…so we couldn’t help ourselves from sampling the many tasty treats that our neighborhood has to offer.

Fennel roasted pork with nectarine and blueberry from Cuoco
For a hot summer day this fruit and pork combo really hit the spot. The colorful dish was not only the daily winner in appearance, but also took gold in flavor combination. We were tempted to go back for seconds on this one!

Steamed clams in pesto sauce from 13 Coins
Now I have something to confess: I had never eaten a single clam before Friday. I’m happy to announce that my first experience was at SLUBP with this dish from 13 Coins. The buttery pesto sauce made for a super-rich concoction but the sample size was the perfect treat.
Apple fagottino from La Toscanella
La Toscanella opened its doors to SLU only three days before Block Party! Their Northern-Italian pastry tastes better than mom’s apple pie and fits in your hand like a high-end hot-pocket. Despite my goal of photographing everything I ate at Block Party, I had devoured this wonderful little morsel before I returned to my seat. I think that means I loved it.
