Sounders First Kick: PEMCO Presents the 2011 Foos Cup

Thursday, March 17, 2011by  WALLY Team
There's the triple deke, the crossover, kick-flip ollies, bicycle kicks, the crab-dribble, frontside nosepresses, 1080s and spitballs; But among the wicked combos and gnarly coinages that dot the sports landscape, "brush passing" and "snake shots" dominated our Sounders pregame on Tuesday.

Before the season opener, Wally1 played host to the first round of the PEMCO Foos Cup. The objective: score as many goals as possible in a five minute Foosball match. Octabio and Jose Martinez positioned themselves as the current frontrunners for a grand prize suite experience at the final Sounders home game, scoring an impressive 16 points.

Confident you can trump the Martinez's 16 goals? Come visit the PEMCO booth before the Sounders vs. Dynamo game 3/26!

The Sounders could have used some of the Martinez's offense: the club's 1-nil loss marked the first time in franchise history that they lost a season opener. Still, if the pregame milieu was any indication, spirits will remain un-dampened. Legions of Sounders fans filled the Qwest grounds with raucous cheers and chants. We spoke with one family whose dedicated, sometimes-rush-hour trips from Granite Falls have landed them at every Sounders home match ever played. It's that kind of dedication that has made the Sounders fan base the stuff of MLS legend.

Ole! Ole! It's Sounders Season: come join us for Foos Cup and free photos before every match!
