Unclaimed Property FAQs

There are several reasons why you may have received this check. It’s likely that you had a claim with us, or you were owed a refund on your policy due to changes in coverages or if your policy was cancelled.

Thank you for your honesty and thank you for not cashing the check. However, at this point, we need you to contact our claims department at claims@pemco.com and let them know to place a stop payment on that check. Please include the claim number, check number, and check amount. If a stop payment isn’t issued, the funds will be erroneously sent to the State of Washington’s Unclaimed Property Division.

Unfortunately, no. Your funds have been sent to the State of Washington Unclaimed Property Division. You must now work with the state to find you funds (www.claimyourcash.org). It can sometimes take the 4 to 6 months for those funds to show up.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to do that. If the original policy was held in two names, the funds must be returned to both.

We’re sorry for the loss of your loved one. We can reissue a check to the estate in the customer’s name and send it “in the care of” the estate’s executor.  Please return a letter noting who the executor is along with the request for a new check.

We can. Please include documentation that shows the name change with your request so that we can verify that the funds are going to the correct person.
