Upon reaching the summit, on a clear day, you cannot beat the 360 degree view, while standing/sitting in the restored fire lookout tower. While this hike is very popular, the elevation gain, and traveling over rock fields doesn’t make this an easy hike. You gain 2300 feet in 2.7 miles. Rest assured, it is well worth it. I recommend getting there earlier than later, as the trail tends to get busy. Lots of water and a lunch to eat when you reach the top is the best way to spend the day. The road to the trail head is quite lengthy and filled with potholes, so if you have a small car, just plan to take it a little easy on the way up.
