MCS-5365-Wildfire_IG2_Social_Horz_1920x1080-(1).pngWildfires in the Pacific Northwest are becoming more frequent and severe. It’s increasingly important for everyone in the region to know what to expect in order to best protect our families, communities, and homes when faced with an emergency.

In situations like wildfires, one of the best things you can do is follow the Boy Scouts motto, “be prepared,” and our PEMCO experts are here to help!

When preparing your family for wildfire season, consider our patented three-step process: the “Ready, Set, Go” method.

30 days - Ready

Educate yourself: Understand the risks and the emergency procedures in your area. Be sure you know what your property coverage is (if you have any questions, you can call us at 1-800-467-3626).

Make a plan: Ensure all family members know what to do and where to go in case of an evacuation. Share contact information and establish a meeting point.

Prep a go bag: Gather supplies for at least three days, including water, non-perishable food, medications, flashlights, and a first aid kit.

PEMCO tip: Digitize precious photos and include your pets in your plan

30 hours - Set

Stay informed: Monitor local news and weather reports for updates on the wildfire situation. Sign up for any local alerts.

Secure your home: Remove flammable materials from around your house, turn off gas or propane, and move any flammable furniture indoors.

Prepare to evacuate: Pack your emergency kit, important documents, cash and valuables.

PEMCO tip: Gather ID, medication and charge your phones

30 minutes - Go

Evacuate immediately: If advised to evacuate, do so without delay. Follow the routes recommended by the authorities to avoid any roadblocks or dangers.

Check-in: Use your communication plan to inform family and friends of your location and status.

Stay safe: Proceed to your designated meeting point or evacuation center and wait for further instructions from emergency personnel.

PEMCO tip: Make sure local alerts are ON
