Quincy farmer Kevin Weber’s dump truck vanished July 18. He found it two days later, and a former employee suspected of stealing it said he merely borrowed it to “haul a couple loads of gravel.”
Problem is, when found, the truck had been disassembled and its serial numbers scratched off.
Weber had received a tip and flew his private plane to Grand Coulee, where from his airborne perch he spotted his truck.
The suspect saw Weber’s plane, knew whose it was, and started to flee before calling Weber on his cell phone to say he “didn’t mean to steal” the truck.
