The WALLY team finds creativity in Seaside, Oregon

Friday, January 1, 2010by  Christa VanWieringen

Hood to Coast posterThis past weekend, the WALLY team attended the 33rd Annual Hood to Coast Relay Race in Seaside, Oregon. It's also known as "The Mother of All Races", since it's the largest running relay race I'm the world!

Runners in teams of 8-12 conquer 199 miles of pavement throughout the night, starting from Mt. Hood and ending at Seaside Beach, but the fun doesn't end there! Afterwards, there's a beach party with tasty food, live music and lots of free goodies! What could make this race even better? Combining it with two others, of course! The Portland to Coast Walk Relay and the Portland to Coast High School Challenge are also part of the fun.

The WALLY team was on the beach giving out free PEMCO swag while finishers tried their luck spinning our prize wheel.  Throughout the day, we met plenty of teams with the most creative names. We decided to pick our top 5 favorites from the day.

1.Desperately Seeking Seaside

2.The Name is Bond...Gold Bond

4.Nacho Average Walkers

5.We Signed Up For This?

Although they were all great, our personal favorite is team Desperately Seeking Seaside. We like to think they were inspired from our very own Northwest Profile #13: Desperately Seeking Sasquatch.

Congratulations to all those who finished!
