Redmond, Wash., is the fifth-best place to live in the country, according to Money Magazine’s list of America’s best 100 small cities for 2012. Bellevue ranked No. 40 and has made the list every time since 2006, including 2010 when it ranked fourth.
Eligible cities have populations between 50,000 and 300,000. Money said that Redmond's proximity to Seattle, the Cascades, and 90-plus wineries make Microsoft's hometown "an ideal base camp for exploring the Northwest," and also said Redmond’s "picturesque neighborhoods, low crime rate, and stellar schools are a major part of the city's attraction."
