Millions of viewers tuned in to the reboot of The X-Files Sunday and Monday nights on FOX. Again, like its initial five seasons, X-Files is shot just north of us in and around Vancouver, B.C.
The Vancouver Sun identified some filming locations, including a surprise. One of Sunday night’s scenes was presented as the New Mexico high desert, but it actually was shot in Ashcroft, an hour west of Kamloops.
The Sun also ran a feature on Vancouver resident Steve Kiziak, who literally was “discovered” on a sidewalk and recruited to play David Duchovny’s double.
Those watching Sunday’s premiere were treated to the reappearance of a villain perceived to be killed off in 2002, Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis). Is he truly alive in the rebooted series? Or was his appearance just a flashback?
Ironically, the villain known for chain-smoking Morley cigarettes quit smoking tobacco, in real life, in the 1970s.
