The latest annual report of theft losses for newer vehicles shows that crooks continue to steal large pickups and SUVs more than passenger cars, according to the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI).
Declining Escalade sales, combined with new antitheft technology from General Motors, likely caused the Cadillac luxury SUV to drop from first to sixth place among most-stolen vehicles.
Other often-swiped rigs include the Chevy Silverado pickup, Chevy Avalanche SUV, and GMC Sierra pickup.
The least-stolen vehicle? That’s the Dodge Journey SUV, with a slightly lower frequency than the Audi A4 car and the popular Honda CR-V, a small SUV. Read the entire HLDI results.
