For the month of January, our employees nominated and voted for Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Inland Northwest as our Nonprofit of the Month.
Ronald McDonald House Charities provide temporary lodging, comfort, and support for families with children accessing medical services in Spokane, and supports related efforts to improve children's health in our region.
Here’s why our employee Tim W. nominated the organization, in his own words:
“I was introduced to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) several years ago and have enjoyed the opportunity to volunteer by cooking meals for the families. In my experience it was clear that the families staying there were in a caring and compassionate environment; the staff were wonderful and the accommodations felt like a home.
"As a parent, I can’t imagine what it would be like to have a child in the hospital with a serious, sometimes life-threatening illness. RMHC allows the family to focus on their family while their child is hospitalized, rather than the distraction of finding a hotel and eating out each day. I’ve also attended several fundraising events for RMHC and appreciate knowing that 100% of my donation stays in Spokane to benefit families from the Inland Northwest.”
They offer three programs: Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home so families can stay close by their hospitalized children. The Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital allow families to rest and regroup right at the hospital. And Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is a clinic on wheels that offers affordable medical and dental care for over 2,000 children in Central Washington.
