Our December Nonprofit of the Month: YouthCare

YouthCare logotwo young men working at construction siteFor December, our employees nominated and chose YouthCare for Nonprofit of the Month.

YouthCare builds confidence and self-sufficiency for homeless youth by providing a continuum of care that includes outreach, basic services, emergency shelter, housing, counseling, education, and employment training for youth ages 12 – 24.

Their approach is to engage with the young people they serve, help to get them stabilized, and then help prepare them for successful adulthood. They have several sites throughout the Seattle area.

Here’s why our employee Susan S. nominated the organization, in her own words:

“I first got involved with YouthCare when I was invited to help serve lunch with a group of PEMCO colleagues. Seeing anyone homeless breaks my heart, but it’s especially heart-wrenching to see homeless young folks. After touring the Orion Center and hearing about what YouthCare does, I was impressed by how they meet young people where they are and then help them reach their full potential.”

Our employee Nonprofit of the Month program gives our employees a chance to champion the organizations that mean the most to them. Through employee nominations and an annual vote, 12 organizations are chosen to receive a donation.

Our Seattle office is having a fun time collecting items for YouthCare for our holiday giving tree and donating holiday meals to YouthCare's Home of Hope. We’re proud to support local organizations like YouthCare that work to improve the quality of life in our Northwest communities. Thank you, YouthCare!
