Oregon schools’ test scores slump overall

Oregon school officials voiced dismay over this year’s test results that show the passing rate dropped in subjects at each grade level.
In particular, high school writing scores bombed. The number of juniors who could write an acceptable essay sagged to just 60%.
Passing the writing test is a prerequisite to earning a high school diploma in Oregon, and nearly 16,000 seniors are currently below standards.
On a positive note, high school math scores rose to a record-high 69% passing rate. Read The Oregonian article.
