When you think about it, moms and insurance companies are a lot alike. As we grow into adults, the moms and mother figures in our lives are there to protect, support, and nurture us.
Those are the same responsibilities we all at PEMCO have in building relationships with our customers. You could even say moms also share our mission – to help us worry less and live more.
So in honor of Mother's Day, we asked our employees: What important life lesson did your mom or mother figure teach you?
The life lessons we shared with each other – important, funny, lifelong, and others – warmed our hearts and made us smile.
#1: Every day is a new day. Nothing ever stays the same, good, bad or otherwise – it's strength, resilience, and a never-give-up mentality that moves us forward. It's okay to not have everything figured out, but get out of your comfort zone and have confidence in yourself in the process.
#2: Treat everyone with compassion and kindness. Be a champion for dignity and equality for all, and care for others, not only because it's the right thing to do, but it should be at the heart of all we do.
#3: Be true to yourself. Be curious, stay humble, listen and learn from others, but develop a strong sense of yourself and what you stand for. There's no time to waste being someone that you're not.
#4: Don't take your opportunities for granted. Whether it's pursuing an education, saving an extra dollar, or helping someone out when you can, appreciate your opportunities to make a difference for yourself and others, and always make the time to say thank you.
#5: Fiercely protect the ones you love. In relationships and life, you get out what you put in, so build a bold path for yourself and your loved ones. Don't be afraid to ask for advice, and whether in times of celebration or tragedy, make time to surround yourself with your supporters.
Thank you to our employees who took the time to share who they are celebrating this Mother's Day – the moms, grandmothers, children, and other influential figures in their lives – we truly enjoyed getting to know a little about who helped shape you into who you are today.
Happy Mother's Day!
