If you’re leaving home for college, your insurance needs are about to change. Likewise, if you’re the parent of a college-bound student.
PEMCO can make the transition easier for you with discounts that fit your new living arrangements.
First, take advantage of the Good Student Discount. It doesn’t end after high school – maintain a “B” (3.0 GPA) average, and you’ll trim up to 20% off your auto insurance bill.
Are you moving to a college or university at least 75 miles from home, and will you live there without a car? If so you’ll qualify for PEMCO’s Distant Student Discount, which saves you money on your auto insurance when you visit home and drive.
Seventy-five miles isn’t very far away. For example, if you live in the Seattle area and move away to attend Western or Central Washington University, you qualify. (Bellingham is 88 miles away, Ellensburg is 100.) Same for Portland students who attend Oregon or Oregon State University. (Eugene is 110 miles away, Corvallis is 84.)
Will you live at home while attending college? Your parents’ homeowners policy covers your belongings, like an iPad or laptop, that you use on campus. And their policy also covers your stuff if you live on campus, with a few restrictions.
