Meet our employee-nominated Nonprofit of the Month, Cocoon House.

Based in Snohomish County, Cocoon House has been serving homeless, at-risk, and disconnected youth in our community for nearly 30 years. With housing programs, street outreach, and prevention programs, Cocoon House's work addresses teen homelessness to ensure safe and thriving futures for teens and their families.

The mission of Cocoon House supports the belief that "every young person deserves a home and the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential." Our employee Nichole M. nominated and championed Cocoon House as part of our Nonprofit of the Month program and also serves on their Board of Directors.

Here's why the organization is important to Nichole in her own words:

"Cocoon House means so much to me in so many ways. When I was a youth, I got pregnant at 16. Coming from a fairly religious household, my mother disowned me for some time and kicked me out when I refused to give up my baby. I was naïve, scared, and homeless, and sadly I didn't know about Cocoon House during that time.

cocoonhouse-image.pngCocoon House makes it possible for pregnant or at-risk youth to get out of the cold and into a warm bed, plus they offer emotional support where some youth may have never received it before. The staff all work there because they truly care. They offer encouragement, guidance, and compassion which goes a long way for these youth.

More than just help with shelter, they provide amazing resources to Snohomish County families to keep help youth in their homes. They offer classes going over varying dynamics of day-to-day issues within families and give insight on ways to approach things differently with your youth. I was fortunate to attend one of these 2-day seminars with my youngest who is now 19, and our communication changed drastically after that experience. I can't say enough about what an amazing organization this is and how much they mean to me personally – they truly do change lives daily."

We're proud to support local organizations like Cocoon House working to improve the quality of life in our Northwest communities.

Cocoon House gratefully welcomes community support through volunteering and donations: Here's how you can help.
