Best of the Nest contenders shine at the first Seahawks preseason game

The crowd at CenturyLink Field was in mid-season form this past Saturday, as the Seahawks took on the Denver Broncos. Cheering loud from the opening whistle, the Hawks rode the crowd’s cheers and chants to an easy 40-10 victory.

It was the energy from the fans who hung out with us at Touchdown City that really got us amped, not only for Saturday's first preseason game, but for Seahawks season in general. We'll be offering our souvenir photos, and soon we'll start our raffle for the ultimate post-season party, but we were excited to kick-off our newest contest called Best of the Nest. Best of the Nest is an Instagram contest that will help PEMCO in the search to find the most dedicated Seahawks fan to become the new Northwest Profile #12: the Supercharged Seahawks Fan. Whether it was a group of Jr. Seagals, young Seahawks fans with blue and green hair or grown men with Seahawks-embroidered leather jackets, we saw plenty of promising contenders for the Best of the Nest contest.

In order to give you some ideas for what your picture could include, here are three ways to differentiate yourself from the rest of the 12th men and women out there:

  1. Face Paint - It sounds so simple, yet it goes a long way. The willingness to throw caution to the wind and not worry about the possibility of Seattle rain making your face paint drip is the next level of dedication and instantly shows your 12th man pride. However, while cool, face paint has nothing on our next item.

  2. Tattoos - Nothing says dedication like putting a permanent mark on your body. Throughout our day taking souvenir photos at Touchdown City, we ran into many tattooed Seahawks fans. Their ink of choice ranged from Seahawks legends, like Steve Largent, to more recent Seahawks trends like the Legion of Boom. While tattoos are a unique way to permanently flaunt your Seahawks pride, kids, to make mom and dad happy, you can also go for those way-cool temporary tattoos! Let's not forget that these permanent pieces of artwork come at a price since they aren't pain free. However, I can't even imagine the pain I'd feel if I were to try our next item on the list.

  3. Doing the splits -The Jr. Seagals were on hand to provide entertainment at Touchdown City and during halftime. The thing that astounded us time after time was their skill set of tricks, especially their ability to do the splits. Physical feats like the splits instantly set participants apart for the competition, so don’t be afraid to think outside the box with action shots for Best of the Nest.

These are just a few tips that can make your Best of the Nest photo stand out. But of course, there are many ways to create the perfect Supercharged Seahawks photo, so be creative, the sky is the limit!
