Our October Nonprofit of the Month: Mary’s Place

Wednesday, October 12, 2016by  Sharlyn Petit

Our Nonprofit of the Month program gives employees a chance to champion the organizations that mean the most to them. Through employee nominations and an annual vote, 12 organizations are chosen to receive a $1,000 donation from PEMCO Foundation (plus voluntary employee donations).

For the month of October, our employees nominated and chose Mary’s Place.

Serving the greater King County area, its mission is “to empower homeless women, children, and families to reclaim their lives.” They provide the shelter, nourishment, and support that keeps families together, with programs that support: basic needs, health and wellness services, crisis response, support groups, resource referrals, and more.

Mary’s Place operates six crisis response shelters that provide beds for 400 family members each night. With a commitment and campaigns like No Child Sleeps Outside, in 2015 Mary's Place served nearly 200,000 meals, treated over 1,800 medical conditions, and did 6,500 loads of laundry.

We’re proud to support local organizations like Mary’s Place that work to improve the quality of life in our Northwest communities. Thank you, Mary’s Place!
