Orting adults culpable for underage drinking

If you live in Orting and allow minors to drink in your home, watch out.
     Police now can issue tickets to parents, tenants, or anyone “in immediate control of property” that hosts underage drinking. Other targets include people who organize, supervise, sponsor, or control access to such events.
     The new law, similar to the “social host” law enacted earlier on Mercer Island, is meant to deter underage drinking parties. Although the penalty is a $250 fine, proponents say they’re adding stiffer consequences. Read the Tacoma News Tribune article.
