Last week, with the roads still slick from our weekend downpour, a 16-year-old girl was injured in a single-vehicle crash near the Issaquah Highlands.
Police say the teen driver lost control of her car, crossed through opposite lanes of traffic, and went over a guardrail into a wooded area. She was taken to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
The crash fits the common characteristics for crashes involving teen drivers, as defined by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety: driver error, speeding, single-vehicle crash, and with no alcohol involved.
High speed was seen to be the greatest contributor to the crash, and Issaquah police are investigating further with help from the Washington State Patrol.
