I-90 roadwork resumes, snowshed coming down

Friday, April 4, 2014by  Jon Osterberg

The summer road construction season kicks off Monday, April 7, for Washington cross-state commuters.
East of Snoqualmie Pass, the I-90 expansion project resumes with the freeway narrowing to just two lanes (one lane in each direction) for three weeks as detours are built. The concrete Lake Keechelus snowshed, built in 1950, also will be torn down.
All of this will accommodate summer construction of an avalanche overpass and additional traffic lanes between Hyak and the Lake Keechelus Dam.
As in recent years, I-90 will be closed in the early evenings for hour-long rock blasting, until fall. Read the Yakima Herald-Republic article.
