Wednesday, August 3, 2016by  Hernann Ambion

Whether the weather is too hot, too cold, or too rainy living in the Pacific Northwest is always just right for outdoor fun, like golfing! On Monday, the WALLY Team traveled to Aloha, Oregon to attend the Second Annual Dave & Dan Classic and offered our free souvenir photo program. We learned that It’s important to be aware of your surroundings while golfing because sometimes accidents do happen! From driving a golf cart to teeing off, there are always tips you can follow to stay safe while having fun. Here are some useful tips from the WALLY Team you can use the next time you’re out on the green.

Be aware of your surroundings: While golfing, it’s important to look before you swing! Keeping a reasonable distance away from others will help.

Yell “Fore when necessary: In the event that your ball comes near a fellow golfer after swinging, do your best to warn them of incoming dangers by yelling “FORE!” This will notify the group ahead of you that a ball is coming in their direction.

Use the rules of the road while driving golf carts: All hands and feet should be kept inside the vehicle at all times. Speeding is also prohibited in order to help keep you safe! Also, make sure you yield to fellow cart drivers. The carts may be small but they can create a big crash!

Stay hydrated, and protect your skin: Too much time in the sun depletes you of your resources. Make sure you replenish your fluids with H20 and keep your skin protected from the rays by using plenty of sunscreen!

Watch out for lightning: In the rare case of a lightning storm, if you spot a spark in the sky – take cover immediately. The clubhouse is a great place to seek shelter in an event like this. However, don’t run for cover under a tree since it’s a conductor for lightning.

By following these tips, your golfing experience will improve knowing that you are safe while having fun! Happy golfing!
