Child booster-seat ratings show improvement

Child booster seats have improved to where, for the first time, the highest-rated choices now outnumber the lesser ones.
The nonprofit Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) released its latest ratings Oct. 25, and 47 seats earn top marks. Also, 15 of 17 seats introduced in 2012 earn IIHS’s highest rating, and they come in a variety of styles that vary in price from $19 to $300. Read the IIHS news release, which includes a list of booster seats ranked “Best Bet,” “Good Bet,” and “Not recommended.”
