PEMCO turns to local residents for the next Northwest Profile

SEATTLE – PEMCO Insurance, the Northwest’s largest locally based personal insurer, is putting the creative inspiration for the company’s next “Northwest Profile” in the hands of Northwest neighbors. Starting today, residents from around the region can submit video auditions in an online contest that will determine the newest addition to the company’s “We’re A Lot Like You. A Little Different.” ad campaign.

From the original “Socks and Sandals Guy” to the campaign’s most recent addition of the “Flawless Firewood Stacker,” Northwest residents have seen their neighbors, coworkers, family and friends represented by PEMCO’s quirky Northwest Profiles since the launch of the “We’re A Lot Like You. A Little Different.” campaign in 2007.

This new call to action allows residents to celebrate the values shared by many Northwest residents and to prove why their qualities are the most uniquely Northwest and worthy of Northwest Profile fame.

From Sept. 17 through Oct. 25, users may visit to upload a 60-second video audition detailing their Northwest traits. At the end of the submission period, a group of judges representing recognizable Northwest icons will select a dozen finalists who have a chance to take home more than $18,000 in prizes and exclusive Northwest experiences.

“One of the many reasons we hear that people like the campaign is that it makes us laugh at the quirkiness of living in the Northwest,” said PEMCO Insurance spokesperson Jon Osterberg. “We’re poking good-natured fun at ourselves. We can’t wait to see what our Northwest neighbors come up with.”

PEMCO invites locals from all walks of Northwest life to nominate themselves, or someone they know, to become the next profile. Format and organization are completely up to the videographer; there’s no need to follow current commercial styles.

Judges will award the top 12 videos on Nov. 5 with cash prizes, with the grand prize winner earning $5,000. Also at stake are exclusive Northwest experiences like VIP tickets to the 2013 Sasquatch Music Festival and the Relentless Recycler’s ultimate recycling bin package. Additionally, three “Voting Awards” will go to videos selected by popular public vote.
