PEMCO Insurance announces first policy sold in Oregon
Northwest insurance company expands beyond Washington
SEATTLE – PEMCO Insurance today announced it has sold its first insurance policy in Oregon, marking the Northwest insurer’s official expansion beyond the state of Washington.
PEMCO is focusing its initial efforts on the greater Portland area. Beginning today, Oregon residents can receive home and auto insurance quotes and buy policies through a range of purchase channels offered by PEMCO.
“Expanding into the quad-county area of Portland has been a key element of our strategic growth plan, and we’re very pleased to announce the first of many policies sold to Oregon residents,” said PEMCO spokesperson Jon Osterberg.
Brett and Dr. Hillary Nicholson of Portland are PEMCO’s first Oregon-resident policyholders. They worked with First Tech Insurance Services of Beaverton to purchase a homeowners policy for their two-story house in the Kruse Ridge community.
First Tech Insurance Services, which has offices in Washington and Oregon, has developed a community agency partnership with PEMCO over the past two years and is licensed to sell a range of PEMCO Insurance products to Oregon residents.
“Though PEMCO is new to Oregon, we’ve been serving Washington residents since 1949,” Osterberg added. “As the Northwest’s largest locally based insurer, we look forward to expanding our network of Portland-area agents and delivering the unsurpassed customer service that Washington residents have come to expect from us.”
Both Oregon and Washington residents can get a quote from a PEMCO agent by calling 1-800-GO-PEMCO or by talking with a licensed community agent. Coverage for policies sold can take effect as early as July 1, 2011.
