SEATTLE – PEMCO Insurance is proud to announce the company recently earned several awards for outstanding marketing communications from the Insurance Marketing and Communications Association (IMCA) at its 51st annual Showcase Awards Ceremony. The awards recognize the company’s “We’re a lot like you. A little different.” ad campaign.
In a ceremony held at the Hyatt Olive 8 in Seattle on June 30, PEMCO received a total of eight awards: three “Best in Show” and five “Awards of Excellence” for entries across several different categories. The categories included design, radio and television advertisements, Web site and electronic communications, and total marketing communications campaign.
Since the fall of 2007, Northwest residents have seen, heard, and experienced elements of PEMCO’s “We’re a lot like you” campaign through television, radio, and Web advertisements, and through its interactive microsite (www.werealotlikeyou.com) that features approximately 50 “Northwest Profiles.” The award-winning campaign seeks to celebrate shared Northwest values by highlighting the characteristics found in many of this region’s residents.
“We’re always delighted to hear feedback from Northwest neighbors that they’ve connected in some way with our ads,” said Rod Brooks, PEMCO vice president and chief marketing officer. “It’s a great honor to be recognized for our campaign-related work – an honor we share with our team of creative marketing partners led by DNA Seattle.”
The entries were judged by marketing, advertising, writing, graphics, and audio-visual professionals from both within and outside the insurance industry. The teams of judges evaluated each entry using scoring criteria that considers effectiveness and functionality, audience, focus, content, and presentation.
Radio and television ads featuring PEMCO’s quirky, yet recognizable “Green Lake Power Walkers,” “Roadside Chainsaw Woodcarver,” and “First Snowflake Freak-out Lady” Northwest Profiles were PEMCO’s IMCA award winners. The campaign’s bus-wrap advertisements, microsite, and PEMCO’s total marketing campaign also were recognized for outstanding communications work.

IMCA is a professional industry association with membership representing the insurance and financial services industries throughout the United States, Canada, and Bermuda. The 2009 Showcase Awards recognized work by member organizations produced between Jan. 1, 2008, and March 15, 2009.
