WALLY walks with Seattleites for a breath of fresh air

Thursday, May 9, 2013by  Mason Luvera

This past weekend the WALLY team joined the American Lung Association and participated in the Fight for Air walk.  At this event, individuals, families and friends came together to walk the South Lake Union neighborhood to support those affected by lung disease and asthma.

With sunny skies and soaring temperatures in Seattle, there couldn’t have been a better day for the walk. As with any hot day, staying hydrated is key. That's why the WALLY team started the day off by setting up shop with a water station along the walk route. Handing out water was a great way to thank people for their participation, and we loved chatting with those who took a brief break in the shade. The WALLY team handed out an astonishing 200 cups of water!

Among the participants were some Green Lake Power Walkers, and it didn’t take long before all the walkers passed by and grabbed a quick drink. Once everyone passed by our water station, the WALLY team made a quick dash down to Denny Park for the celebration and festivities at the finish line.

At the post-race festival, we set up our photo program to help capture some memories, and it's always a great opportunity to interact with old and new faces. As people stopped by to grab a photo we could see why Fight for Air was such a great event; friends and families came together to support the cause and took pride in their matching team uniforms.

Participants and sponsors raised over $34,000 for the American Lung Association by participating in the walk. That money will help with research and support towards fighting lung disease and promoting better health in the community – well done, Seattle!

The WALLY team is lucky to attend some pretty amazing events, but it’s always a bonus when the event support a great cause!
