Top Portland holiday hotspots: the WALLY Team's exclusive guide

We’re lucky that when the WALLY team heads out to events we also get time to see the sights of the Northwest.  And while we’ve seen some of the best that the west has to offer, we can surely say that after this past weekend’s trip to Portland, this city is a new contender as one of our favorites.

Portland puts up a great show for the holidays.  While we were downtown for this year’s Jingle Bell Run, we couldn’t help but get in the holiday mood, it was all around us!  Every tree is wrapped in lights, sculptures of ducks and pigs were dressed in holiday sweaters, and the air is filled with the smells of seasonal specials from some of Portland’s famous eateries. Of course, it wouldn’t be very festive of us to not share our holiday finds with you! So we put together the WALLY team’s exclusive guide to our top 3 holiday hotspots you should be sure to check out next time you find yourself in Portland.

Peacock Lane:  Looking for the best Christmas Lights display around?  Look no further than Portland’s famous Peacock Lane.  Nestled in the charming and historic southeast neighborhood, the decorations on Peacock Lane have been a city tradition since the 1920's.  Every house on the street showcases their best display and the result is magical.  Be sure to check it out on December 15th and 16th for the special pedestrian-only nights, where you can enjoy the charm only by foot!

Portland, Oregon sign:  Remember the nifty Portland sign adorning the waterfront?  If you’re a fan of the icon just like we are, then you’ll love this tradition.  Each year for the holidays the nose of the sign’s deer lights up red, signaling holiday spirits around the city!  One fun thing we love to do is walk across the bridges over the river for a photo with the sign in the background.  Photo op, anyone?

Pittock mansion:  Sitting at a whopping 1,000 feet above the city skyline in the West Hills neighborhood is Pittock mansion, a beautiful and historic mansion that offers tours daily.  During the holidays the mansion is decorated with Christmas trees, and includes a special exhibit that changes each year.

Portland’s known for its quirky charm and inviting atmosphere, and we can say without a doubt that during the holidays, this spirit is alive and well.  From the WALLY team to you, enjoy the season!
