A tax-fraud scheme affecting local residents has generated $2.7 million more than revealed last May, the Oregon U.S. Attorney’s office said.
The Oregonian reports that six men stole personal information from 40,500 Oregon residents via a database owned by CICS Employment Services of Lincoln City. The scheme netted thieves $4.7 million altogether in tax refunds dating to 2013. Read the Feb. 17 Oregonian article.
