Puyallup roller coaster nearly renovated

Thrill-seekers, take note: Puyallup’s iconic 1935 wooden roller coaster is undergoing the final phase of a $1.25 million restoration that should be completed April 18.
Riders then will be able to rise, dip, and turn for half a mile at 38 mph, up from its previous top speed of 35 mph.
Although steel roller coasters are common, Puyallup’s “Giant Coaster” is one of only about 20 original wooden roller coasters left in America. Its three 16-passenger trains also will be renovated, in time for The Puyallup Fair in September. Read the Tacoma News Tribune article.
