If you’ve ever gazed up from the Puget Sound lowlands at the Cascades and wondered, “What peak is that?” the Everett Herald has published a great panorama photo that tells all.
The image was shot from Everett, but the snowy mounds still should be identifiable from points to the north and south.
Having the photo for reference is much easier than identifying peaks with a map and straight edge. Recently, even with the advantage of having online Google maps, it took me forever to identify the prominent, pyramid-shaped peak seen from my kitchen window. It’s Liberty Mountain, which looks much taller than its modest 5,680-foot height because it sits west of the Cascade crest.
