Electric cars now can zip from Bellingham clear through Oregon via the West Coast Electric Highway.
Western Washington's quick-charge stations opened in 2012, and Oregon recently opened stations along its northern stretch of I-5. Once all the California stations are installed, electric motorists will be able to buzz all the way from the Canadian border to San Diego, with stations spaced along I-5 every 25 to 60 miles. Quick-charge stations typically charge electric vehicles in just 20 to 30 minutes.
