Birthday cake was on the menu Oct. 15 at the Wallingford Dick’s.
The co-founder of Dick’s Drive-Ins, Dick Spady, celebrated his 90th birthday by greeting customers at his original Seattle restaurant and handing out autographed paper hats.
The customers he greeted Tuesday included a North Bend couple who met at Dick’s in 1955, married the following year, and had six kids. Read The Seattle Times story to see how the husband caught his future spouse’s eye.
A Seattle institution for 59 years, Dick’s Drive-In has six locations, including the Edmonds eatery that opened in 2011. Dick’s gained notoriety this past July when recording artist Macklemore shot a music video at the Capitol Hill Dick’s Drive-in.
