Bill submitted to split Washington in two

Friday, February 6, 2015by  Jon Osterberg

The Tacoma News Tribune has found humor in a cessation bill submitted by state representatives from Spokane Valley and Moxee.
The bill asks for the creation of a 51st state because “the lifestyles, culture, and economies of eastern and western Washington have been very distinct and dramatically different.”
The Nose at the Tribune pledges, among other things, to keep a straight face every time Yakima calls itself “the Palm Springs of Washington” and to stop calling it “the Federal Way of Central Washington.” Also, no more calling the proposed new capital “Spoklahoma,” “Spokansas,” or “Spokanistan.”
Personally, I prefer the climate east of the Cascades. And how would The Nose react if the 51st state placed a wine and fruit embargo on area code 253? Play nice now, neighbors.
