Apple crop sets record, earns high prices

Washington’s apple cropWashington’s apple crop is a record-buster this year, and in demand.

Because severe April frosts decimated orchards in Michigan and New York, consumers across America and overseas are eager to snatch up the Evergreen State’s whopping crop of 121.5 million boxes, 11% higher than the previous record of 109 million boxes. 

Growers across Central Washington are converting traditional orchards to high-density farms, accounting for larger yields in recent years. Read the Yakima Herald-Republic article.
