Wayward bear cub caught inside Rite Aid

Thursday, October 23, 2014by  Jon Osterberg

Perhaps she was lost, looking for the nearest Black Bear Diner?
A small bear cub wandered into the Rite Aid drugstore in Ashland last Sunday and was safely captured in an overturned shopping cart.
The 13-pound cub had ambled into a nearby motel room earlier before finding her way to Tolman Creek Plaza.
State game officials say it’s rare for a cub that small to venture far from its mother. After being checked by a vet and deemed healthy, the cub was bound for a PAWS animal shelter in Washington.
See photos of the cub in this Medford Mail Tribune story.
