As an award-winning nonprofit organization, Schoolhouse Supplies’ mission is to support public education in Portland – supplying classroom materials for teachers and students at no cost. Over the weekend the WALLY Team lent a helping hand delivering school supplies and hosting a Free Saturday Shop.

Our first stop was Vernon Elementary School. As one of the four lucky winners from PEMCO’s Fall Teacher Appreciation Sweepstakes, we helped deliver their prize of school supplies! The contest also raised $5,000 to help stock the free store – which was our next stop!

If you don’t already know, one of Portland’s best kept secrets is the Free Store at Schoolhouse Supplies! For busy teachers who can’t shop during the week, the WALLY Team helped open the store on a Saturday while the teachers shopped ‘till they dropped.

Our favorite part of the day was receiving a giant enveloped filled with hand-drawn thank you notes from Alison B.’s classroom at Lent Elementary School. From our fun-filled weekend, the WALLY Team learned what the most popular items are on teacher’s supplies lists.

  1. Pencils
  2. Paperclips
  3. Index Cards
  4. Staplers/Staples
  5. Crayons

We had a great time hanging out with the Schoolhouse Supplies crew and can’t wait to be back soon!
