Our Northwest

Montana drivers ranked worst in new report

Friday, December 12, 2014by  Jon Osterberg

Northwest drivers fared well in a new study reported by USA Today. But our neighbor to the east, Montana, tied with South Carolina as the state with the worst drivers.
Montana topped the list largely because it ranks No. 1 in the nation for drunk driving, No. 5 for speeding, and No. 7 for failure to obey traffic signals and wear seat belts.
Idaho ranks No. 41 overall, Washington No. 44, and Oregon is No. 46. The state with the best drivers is Minnesota, ranked No. 51 (the District of Columbia is included in the report).
