Car vandalism highest on Halloween

Watch out for car vandals tonight.
Research shows that Halloween is twice as dangerous as an average day for slashed tires, busted windows, and scraped paint.
The nonprofit Highway Loss Data Institute says Halloween averages the most claims for any day of the year at 1,253, beating out July 4 (987) and New Year’s Day (944). Read the HLDI news release.
Also, be particularly aware if you drive a new generation Camaro, Mustang, or Challenger. The National Insurance Crime Bureau says that in the “Sporty” class of vehicles, those three were stolen far more than other makes and models over the past four years.
Sporty-car thefts occurred most often in California, Florida, and Texas in that order.
